From Land to Keys – Your Homebuilding Journey, Simplified

Build With Confidence

A Clear, Guided Path to Your New Home — From Land to Keys

Thinking about building a new home, but feeling overwhelmed by where to start?

You’re not alone.

Most people don’t avoid building because they don’t want a new home — they avoid it because the process feels confusing, risky, and full of unknowns.

At Build America Custom Homes, we’ve simplified the process into a clear, step-by-step system that removes guesswork and keeps you informed from day one.

Here’s exactly how we guide you through it.

Step 1: Pre-Approval Comes First (This Matters More Than Most People Realize)

Before we look at land or floor plans, we help you start with the right lender.

Not all banks offer construction loans — and lending standards are tighter than they’ve been in the past. Starting early gives you clarity, confidence, and leverage.

We can:

  • Refer you to local lenders experienced in construction loans
  • Help you understand realistic budget ranges
  • Align expectations before you invest time or money elsewhere

This step sets the foundation for everything that follows.

Step 2: Land Evaluation — Whether You Own It or Are Still Looking

If you already own land, great — we’ll evaluate it.

If you don’t, we can:

  • Work directly with your real estate agent
  • Or assist you in identifying land that’s actually buildable (not just for sale)

We evaluate:

  • Zoning & local restrictions
  • Setbacks and buildable area
  • Access, topography, and layout considerations

This step answers the critical question early:
“Can we build here — and does it make sense?”

Step 3: Utilities & Soil Study — Where Real Costs Are Determined

This is one of the most misunderstood parts of building — and one of the most important.

A soil study helps determine:

  • The foundation type required (crawl space, etc.)
  • Whether a septic system is needed — and what type
  • Approximate well depth if not on city water

We also verify:

  • City water and sewer availability (if applicable)
  • Local utility connection costs and requirements

This information allows us to accurately form the cost of building the home, instead of guessing.

No surprises. No last-minute changes.

Step 4: Choose & Customize Your Floor Plan

Once feasibility and utilities are confirmed, we move into the fun part.

You’ll select a floor plan that fits your needs — and then customize it:

  • Layout adjustments
  • Room sizes
  • Structural changes
  • Design preferences

If the lot is smaller or has unique constraints, we ensure the plan meets all required setbacks and local codes before moving forward.

Step 5: Site Plan & Final Planning

With your finalized floor plan and soil study, we work with a surveyor to create a site plan that shows:

  • Home placement
  • Driveway
  • Utilities
  • Septic or sewer (if applicable)

This step ties everything together and prepares your project for permitting and construction.

Step 6: Design Selections — Make It Yours

Now we personalize the home.

You’ll select:

  • Countertops
  • Flooring
  • Cabinet styles
  • Paint colors
  • Roofing
  • Siding and exterior finishes

We help you make choices that balance style, budget, and long-term value.

Step 7: The Build — Guided, Organized, and Communicated

This is where the work happens — and where our systems shine.

We:

  • Lead the process step-by-step
  • Coordinate trades and schedules
  • Build using proven systems-built methods
  • Keep timelines tight and expectations clear

You’ll receive weekly email updates, so you always know:

  • What’s completed
  • What’s coming next
  • Where your project stands

No guessing. No chasing answers.
